Be Unique

This little whimsical sweetie is my very own design as is her octo-head dress ❤

I drew her back in 2013 and thought time to bring her out. I love her as I can accessorize her any which a way 😀

So the background is a play with Dylusion and Paper Artsy chalk paints. Check out the close up here (click on image for larger view) –  loving how the paint plays with each other nicely.

BeUniqueBackgroundI stenciled in some kelp from a stencil designed by my good friend and Artist Carmen. I also use the compass stencil from Joggles. For her skin tone I went with an abstract feel and gave her a bluish tone since she’s of the sea. I painted her with gelatos and for reference her face is a little over and inch tall so a little rough wielding color in such a tiny space but I am happy how she came out. Now I knew how adding gesso can give most paints a chalk paint feel and how gelatos move and play better on dry gesso surface.  I never thought of wet gesso in to gelato till I saw Scrapbook Centrale on YouTube giving it a go – very cool. I did add a little water to my mixes though to give the gesso/gelato mix a greater open time.

Her outfit is from 7gypsies and the coral embellie on her dress is a beUniqueFinaltree die from Impression Obsession. Her tail is something I haven’t seen out there. In 2013 when I drew her I drew on flipped butterfly wings for a mermaid tail. I found for greater effect using butterfly wing die clipped and flipped to resemble a fish fin gave a dimensional look I wanted and this one is from Cheery Lynn Dies.

I wanted her to be the focus in coral tones so I kept the rest simple compared to all the other stuff I normally add LOL.

Here’s a close-up of the fishes in the lower right hand corner so you can see how  the colors play together.
